Graduated in the Cuban Academy of Fine Arts “San Alejandro”.
The works of Edel Bordón are aimed at the homo ludens, surpassing boundaries, but not in an
aggressive way. They present a hybrid form that transcends thematic repetitions and explores form.
His paintings, far from any blaring loudness to draw everyone’s attention, put forward a reflexive
and discreet humor, an exercise of visual intelligence. His works reveal eroticism and seduction,
as well as the existential frustrations of the artist.
The precious finishing touches of his paintings do not obey the aesthetic rigidness but the desire of accomplishing the highest quality and highest efficiency possible in communication. This intent is also shown in the thematic diversity and his openness in considering a wide range of plastic devices.
Hidden behind his painting lies the mystery which brings to life each work: the modern vision of the cosmos that, nurtured by the fusion the varied sources of a Caribbean soul: the western and the Christian cultures, the African and Spanish ancestors, thirteen years of academic studies and almost thirty years as professor of arts, the proverbial beauty of Cuban women as a result of their rich racial amalgam together with their now o so rare femininity..
