Martin Kidd was born in Western Australia. He lectured in Fine Art at Claremont School of Art and Central Metropolitan College of Art and Design in Western Australia for some seventeen years, teaching painting and drawing . He was formally trained in Fine Art at Perth Technical College, Claremont School of Art and the W.A. Institute of Technology. He returned to Australia in February 2004 after living in Spain for ten years.
